Cagnes-sur-Mer : it was back in Roman times that Cagnes sur Mer came into being... but the real development of the town happened with the birth of the "Haut de Cagnes" district. In the Middle Ages. Towards the end of the 19th century, the construction of the railway network allowed Cagnes to develop its tourist activities. In the early 20th century, many artists - such as Renoir - came to live here. Today, Cagnes is the 6th largest town in the Alpes Maritimes department (in terms of french riviera accomodation). Surrounded by ramparts and gates, the medieval village now attracts crowds of visitors to see its old stone houses, medieval gates, tiny, quiet streets, flowered balconies.... Visit the Grimaldi Castle Museum which mounts temporary exhibitions. In this historical site, take the time to discover the Olive Tree museum, the Mediterranean Modern Art Museum and Suzy Solidor's donation.

Slightly further East along the coast, a small village, the Cros de Cagnes, has grown up around the fishing harbour. Take a walk early in the morning to see the boats heading back to harbour after a night at sea and stop to enjoy some fresh fish (gilt-head, sardines, sea bass, "poutine"...) in one of the many restaurants serving seafood and shellfish along the sea front. All year round, Cros de Cagnes offers french riviera accomodation and a variety of water sports: sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing...

Villeneuve-Loubet : origin of the name : Villanova's (1200) and Lobetus' (990) union of towns, evolved to Lobet then Lubet by 1470. The earliest village was the "modern" district whereas the second is derived from the word "loup" (the wolf) which gave its name to the river that runs through Villeneuve Loubet french riviera accomodation.

3 km from the shore, the superb village dominated by a private 12th century castle boasts two museums: the Museum of Culinary Art (Auguste Escoffier Foundation) and the Museum of History and Art. The historical heart of the village is alongside the Loup river and overlooks the wooded hills but the rest of the town stretches down as far as the sea and has more than 3 km of coastline encircling Marina Baie des Anges (original pyramidal architecture), its marina, many restaurants and two hydrotherapy centres, french riviera accomodation...

Villeneuve Loubet combines authenticity and modernity and offers a broad range of activities: golf, horse riding, tennis, hydrotherapy, water sports, sports activities in the Vaugrenier Forest Park.

Don't miss: the "Flots Bleus" stroll in Saint Laurent du Var, the castle in the old town of Les Hauts-de-Cagnes, and the medieval castle at Villeneuve-Loubet. Forsake the coastline and discover a lot of hill-top villages : Saint Paul de Vence, Vence, La Gaude, Saint Jeannet, Gattières and Tourrettes sur Loup.
